Vertical Lathes

Compare Sufeng vertical lathes for discs, flanges, hubs and large-diameter parts. Review swing, cutting diameter, height, weight, chuck and turret requirements.

How to select vertical lathes

Diameter and cutting height

Distinguish maximum swing from usable cutting diameter and height. Allow for the chuck, fixture, tools and safe loading.

Load and spindle duty

Check the combined workpiece and workholding load, balance, torque and speed against roughing and finishing requirements.

Additional operations

If drilling, milling or off-centre features are required, confirm live tooling, C-axis capability and the complete process for the selected model.

Prepare your workpiece review

Send your drawing with the material, blank dimensions and weight, tolerances, production volume and target cycle time. Our engineers will discuss fixtures, tools, inspection and installation with you.

Frequently asked questions

Which parts are candidates for a vertical lathe?

Large-diameter, relatively short discs, rings, flanges and housings may benefit from horizontal workpiece loading. Confirm workholding and cutting access for the actual part.

Is maximum swing the same as maximum cutting diameter?

Usually not. Swing describes a space limit; tools, the turret, fixtures and machine structure also constrain the usable cutting diameter.
